Jo Taylor is an artist and art educator who has taught children, teens and adults in public school systems, at museums and cultural arts centers across the Black Belt Region.  She earned her B.S. in Art Education from Auburn University at Montgomery in 1998 and her B.F.A. with a concentration in Ceramics from the University of Montevallo in 2005.  Jo creates art using several different mediums but she specializes in Western-Style Raku pottery and other alternative firing techniques to give her pieces a variety of colors and textures.  This wide variety of colors and textures is intriguing and challenging to master.  This aspect of raku is why she continues to work with the raku finish on many of her pottery pieces.  She has also branched out into cone 6 oxidation glazes for utilitarian ware and fused glass.    Her work can be seen at Selma Art Guild Gallery, Gallery 905 and Black Belt Treasures Cultural Arts Center.  Jo has been married for 41 years to Mark and they live in Selma, Alabama with their dog Zach and two cats Katie and Yella Fella
